no way ! It looks really awesome the way you colored it! The overall look and feel of it is dark and rough, like classic scary Halloween imagery

@Tom and Xandra:

I'm not really seeing the difference in the way the Gwens and the hallway are painted. There wasn't an intentional change in style of how I painted the two. Though I suppose it could be the MKT wallpaper that's giving that impression - that was simply done with overlays from a massive template rather than individually painted.

As for the shadows, the reference I was working from suggests that the light is above them, but also slightly ahead of them (not too far). Also, there seems to be an accompanying light source that's creating a V-shape in contrast. It's creating a wide cast shadow on account it's coming down from three points: directly above, front, and diagonal. That's why the shadows seem a bit wide - however, I did slightly shave down a bit of the core shadows to better suit their dress.

With the lighting on the legs, the cast shadow in the reference actually ends at the ankle. The only light present on the lower legs is only on the twin's feet. I hitched up the lighting on their legs a bit to show the difference in dress length. I'll see if I can brighten the shadows on the skin of the feet - fairly far into the final steps, so it might be a pain in the ass
nice charlie. you think the picture would benefit from a few slivers of mist curling around the feet/hallway?

Kiya, that's looking fantabulous!
I love the cape! The collar doesn't seem to be that big of an issue for me, but I'm looking forward to see pics of the solution you have in mind.

Those looks like gem-shaped plastic pieces that can be found in many arts and craft stores. I've used them in the past a good number of times.

They are made out of Scupley III (polymer clay) with a glossy glaze over it. Same material I used for the eye on the belt.

Sooo..... anything that stands out as needing attention?

@Kiya: Hard to tell in your pics if the outfit has the fabric on the side of the waist and coming out of the boots. Other than that, I see nothing wrong.

For myself: In Tyrian terms, where would Halloween fall? There's 360 days, but our year starts mid-winter - whereas the Tyrian year begins with Spring (Season of the Zephyr). I tried to just say that there's 30 days a month and just go to the end of month 10, but that puts Halloween on the 30th day of the Season of the Colossus (winter), so I doubt it is that.

Perhaps it would fall on the end of the Season of the Scion (autumn)? Or should it be more of mid-autumn?

Typically, winter ends with the spring equinox (around March 21 in the Northern Hemisphere and September 21 in the Southern Hemisphere), so that would, more or less, be Day 360/Day 1 of the Tyrian calendar. I would assume at least Tyria follows the northern hemisphere, but where would that leave Halloween to be placed? :/

Edit:
I suppose an easier way would be to take the northern hemisphere's winter solstice (around December 21) as Day 1 for the Season of the Colossus/Winter, and work backwards. But with 5 fewer days... Hmmm.... This requires a lot of math and I've lost my mathematical skills due to disuse (I seem to lose a lot of skills like that).

Edit2:
I need someone to doublecheck my calculations (please): If every month is turned to be 30 (as per the Canthan calendar, which has 12 months), that means 4 days are "cut" before December 21st - making the Solstice closer to the 17th when using the months of reality rather than Tyrian dates. This should mean that day 271 (day 1 of Winter in Tyria) of the calendar is equivalent to December 17th.

With that, it should just be a matter of moving days. Since December would be 30 days, not 31, that would mean that there are 76 days to move (forward) in order to have the calendars synced up. This would mean what would be day 300 (Oct 30th - the new Halloween date) would be instead day 224 - Day 44 of the Season of the Scion (Autumn). Feels off, though given there's basically a month and a half between Halloween and the end of Autumn (47 days after reducing the number of days in the calendar by 5), I suppose it is reasonable.

Then again, Halloween could easily be on the Tyrian autumn equinox - or the day before the winter solstice.

Frusti Rita: The Spirit's Gift (is a pumpkin cookie) [Traditional Art] [Progress Gallery]

I feel so good that I finished it. It did take a month after all.

Marshmallow - I agree with the rest of the folks about your pic being the cutest GW thing ever :3 I don't think the moon is too big, in fact I'd make it a bit bigger myself but it's just great now as well. Good job and congrats for the title! You earned it

Stouda - Too much self-criticism there The colours look awesome and fit the picture very well.

Kiya - Great to see the costume almost done, it looks amazing!

I must say Oh_Frustration, that's really good looking. I really love the detail and color on the spirit.

A little update for my writing, the morning after burning and skinning a village, Thorn wakes up with a revelation...
Poor Bruce. Batman couldn't survive such a fall.

<Excited clapping for Oh_Frustration> Congratulations!!! It looks stunning!

Konig, I seriously think you made my head explode from that calendar analysis! Although, that may be because my brain is fried from grading hw for the past 2.5 hours @_@ Anyway, I did enjoy your story update (poor woman who had to see Bruce!) I wouldn't worry about getting an exact date, because fan fiction and there's wiggle room (if there's not, don't tell me, because I did aloooot of wiggling). I'll grab a pen and check the math with you tomorrow after I get some sleep and my brain stops hating me.

How I view my fan-fiction is that I want to have as minimal contradictions to canon lore as possible, which means that if something isn't known, I put the most likeliest case down (unless I'd rather have a less likely case). For this, for instance, we don't know when Thorn lived, so I'm putting him around the time of the Scarab Plague - which given by the information found by the Horsemen in Elona during Halloween, is a possible time for him to have lived (He went after a princess of Elona, who seems to have died a gruesome death, and the Scarab Plague killed out the Primeval royalty - after the Scarab Plague there were the "Great Dynasty" and the Shattered Dynasty Era which could be candidates, but not afterwards or during the Scarab Plague (for his visit to Elona, excluding the early years of the Scarab Plague). Gonna have to edit the ending I had written up, as I made a blatant error...
